Unemployment has rebounded sharply in December, affecting about 80,000 additional people in France throughout the 2010 Class A
According to figures released Wednesday by the Ministry of Labour and Employment Sector, the number of people in this category was 2,725,200 in late December in France, or 27,100 more than in November, up 1.0% over one month and 3.0% over one year.
In November, the increase was 0.1% (3100 persons).
In addition, job seekers engaged in a Pool (Class B and C), the increase was 0.8% in December, 32,600 more people.
Their number was well established in France 4,051,700, or approximately 222,000 people over the whole of 2010 (+5.3%).
By adding the overseas departments, 4,309,500 people were registered in categories A, B or C in late December.
"This poor result will add a negative pressure on consumer confidence and the fact that consumers should pay more attention to their purchasing power will not help in the short term," said Dominique Barbet, an economist at BNP Paribas.
"This reinforces our concern that private consumption will slow in the first quarter of 2011," he adds.
Several economists have expressed such fears after the release Tuesday of a continued strong consumer spending in December by the scrapping car removed in late 2010.
"While the president proudly announced that unemployment would fall in 2010, the publication of figures on the number of jobseekers in December 2010 allows to take stock of a year which sadly is catastrophic for employment in France, "said Alain Vidal, secretary of the Socialist Party of Labor and Employment.
DECLINE IN NUMBER OF VACANCIES
The number of jobs collected by Cluster Employment fell 2.9% in December but has increased slightly over one year (+0.6%) in France.
The number of jobseekers in Class A was 0.9% for men in December in France (+1.4% yoy) and 1.2% for women (+4.9% on one year).
The number of people under 25 years in Class A was up 1.1% in December, but fell by 5.2% over one year.
The 50 years and over increased by 1.6% over one month and surged 16.3% year on year.
The number of long-term unemployed – registered at job center for a year or more – rose 1.4% in categories A, B, C and increased by 19.8% year on year in France.
The entries in job center in categories A, B, C decreased by 5.2% in December and 3.6% year on year in France.
Entries for the end of fixed term contracts and are down (-2.7%), like those for the end of temporary assignment (-1.0%), more layoffs (-4.7%), Quits (-5.4%), raw inputs (-9.0%), and other cases (-8.4%).
Entries for redundancies are stable, and for those times of increased activity (+1.0%).
The outputs of categories A, B, C also decreased by 5.2% (-6.1% YoY).
The outputs of the declared repeatedly fell in December (-2.2%), like those for terminations for default registration discount (-11.0%), radiation Administration (-2.6%) and other cases (-6.0%).
The outputs to inputs in training have instead increased by 12.5% and stops looking for 3.1%.
The number of jobseekers registered in category A and having a fee payable to the Revenue de Solidarité Active (RSA) was 471,800 in late December in France. This figure was 592,000 for categories A, B and C.
